Modern San Francisco Elopement: Courthouse Vows and Golden Gate Bridge Views
After Izabela and Tiago exchanged vows and ran around the Utah desert, we decided to hop on a plane to San Francisco for more of a modern Vogue vibe. They wanted to say “I do” with their family and knew the San Francisco courthouse was the perfect backdrop of Modern and elegant for their special day. A beautiful contrast to their photos in Utah.
To start the day I+T got ready at an AirBNB in the hills of San Fran overlooking the city. It was moody and misty in typical SF fashion. Izabela’s mom zipped up her dress as they overlooked the city skyline.
Izabela also rented some vintage cars to enhance the editorial vibe in her photos. It was so fun to watch her pose around these classy cars, showing off her unique style. We drove to the courthouse in this classic silver cloud Rolls Royce, getting honked at along the way. Izabela had the most stylish entrance to the courthouse, and let me tell you she rocked EVERY SECOND of it.
Izabela walked elegantly down the marble staircase of the SF courthouse to say “I Do”, surprising Tiago in a different dress than the one she wore in Utah. She hired a private string quartet to play as she made her descent. Her father conducted the ceremony in their native language Portuguese. It was the most beautiful and intimate ceremony filled with tears and laughter.
After these two tied the knot we continued to make our way around the courthouse for some more editorial style photos. I absolutely LOVE the intricate architecture of this courthouse. Everywhere you look is a new opportunity to create art. The winding staircase, the vintage elevators, to the towering white marble pillars, Izabela truly got the most diverse amount of photos for any elopement I have ever captured.
Next up we hit the town exploring the vibrant city life of San Francisco. Izabela and Tiago turned heads as we drove around in a vintage 1961 MGA. We captured a few photos right outside the courthouse at the civic center plaza and stopped by the Palace Of Fine Arts to get some more epic architectural shots.
Last on Izabela’s bucket list was to take photos against the backdrop of The Golden Gate Bridge. Finding an area to get good shots with the bridge and this vintage car was difficult, but I did some research and found the PERFECT gap in a fence next to Bakers Beach. We were able to park the car between this fence to get the most EPIC shots with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background. We were somewhat far away from the bridge, but i just strapped on one of my zoom lenses and was able to bring the bridge in a little closer. If you scroll these photos you will be able to tell which ones i took with my normal lens and which i took with my zoom.
To end the night we went back to the AirBNB for some of the most incredible food I have ever tasted prepared by a private chef Izabela hired. Izabela also hired a planner to cultivate a cozy, intentional space decorated with flowers and stationary. Her family sat around the table and talked about their favorite moments throughout the day, and celebrated I+T. It was the most thoughtful, intentional, and relaxing way to end I+T’s San Francisco elopement.
